New American homes have doubled in size since 1960 and today are twice the size per capita of other developed countries. Getting smaller means lower financial load, lower utility costs, lower maintenance and lower environmental impact. Young and aging Americans recognize smaller homes as an opportunity to focus more on living and less on maintaining. A well designed home small is efficient, multifunctional, and emphasizes space where it is most important. Our designs provide great kitchen spaces, great rooms, lots of light, storage spaces and access to the outdoors.

Form and function is our objective. We build beautiful homes but emphasize design that works. In small space design there is no room for a wasted hallway or unused space in a bedroom. We look for storage space opportunities and multi use spaces. Anticipate lots of light and raised ceilings to give a greater sense of space.
Of course you can always anticipate our emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability practices in design and construction.
Nine out of ten Americans want to age in their
current homes. This is a remarkable trend that needs more consideration by homebuilders.
Design considerations in a smaller new home can
serve aesthetics and livability today while assuring a home that is much more compatible for aging in place. This is a special interest area for us which we consider consistent with our theme of smaller homes. We follow and are familiar with different approaches including Universal Design, Visitability, Aging Ready and ADA in order to help you meet your goals through design.
